About your photographer...

The Texas Hill Country - a geological cornucopia!

Hi,

I'm Greg Claridy, your photographer. For the last 30 years, I've been combining my two favorite subjects, geology and photography. Now I have an extensive stock of pictures representing many aspects of natural history.

Living here just northwest of Austin, Texas, within a few hour's drive of most every part of the geologically rich Texas Hill Country, I'm poised to be a valuable resource for your geoscience photo needs. This region has outcrops representing all three great classifications of rock (sedimentary, metamorphic, and igneous) as well as striking examples of faulting, folding and tilting resulting from uplifting, mountain-building and the fascinating activity of plate tectonics! Working in my office Not to mention the abundant variety of fossils, thanks to the fact that Central Texas has been an ocean floor several different times in geologic history.

Occasionally I tour the Trans-Pecos volcanic field in west Texas, shooting many field photos and collecting samples to shoot in my home studio.

Should you need a photo I don't have, I'll happily shoot on speculation within about a 150 mile radius of my home.

If you're not sure how to illustrate a particular article or text, just e-mail it to me and I'll brainstorm it with you and make suggestions.

Looking forward to working with you,
Greg.
